Tips before you go

Practical notes from operators, land managers and published sources — plus reviews written here.

Short walk, not a 3-mile hike (independent trip reports; BLM publishes no mileage): park at the small lot at the first switchback just west of the John Dunn Bridge, walk a few hundred yards up the closed road, then a few hundred yards down a rocky trail to the river, about 0.3 mile and roughly 10 minutes each way. Pools can flood at high river levels. Park near the bridge and walk about a mile to the hot spring.
